In this tutorial we learn how to install audacious
on Ubuntu 22.04.
What is audacious
audacious is:
Audacious is a fork of beep-media-player which supports Winamp skins
and many codecs.
In the default install, the following codecs are supported:
- MP3
- Ogg Vorbis / Theora
- AAC and AAC+
- FLAC
- ALAC
- Windows Media (WMA)
- WAVE
Additionally, Audacious is extendable through plugins, and contains
other useful features like LIRC support. Support for many more codecs
can also be added through plugins.
This package contains the core player and its localization.
There are three methods to install audacious
on Ubuntu 22.04. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install audacious Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install audacious
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install audacious
Install audacious Using apt
Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install audacious
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install audacious
Install audacious Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install audacious
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install audacious
How To Uninstall audacious on Ubuntu 22.04
To uninstall only the audacious
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove audacious
Uninstall audacious And Its Dependencies
To uninstall audacious
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 22.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove audacious
Remove audacious Configurations and Data
To remove audacious
configuration and data from Ubuntu 22.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge audacious
Remove audacious configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove audacious
configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge audacious
