What is austin
austin is:
Austin is a Python frame stack sampler for CPython written in pure C. It
samples the stack traces of a Python application so that they can be visualised
and analysed. As such, it serves the basis for building powerful profilers for
Python.
The most interesting use of Austin is probably in conjunction with FlameGraph
to profile Python applications while they are running, without the need of
instrumentation. This means that Austin can be used on production code with
little or even no impact on performance.
There are three methods to install austin
on Ubuntu 22.04. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install austin Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install austin
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install austin

After updating apt database, We can install austin

Install austin Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude

After updating apt database, We can install austin

How To Uninstall austin on Ubuntu 22.04
To uninstall only the austin
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove austin
Uninstall austin And Its Dependencies
To uninstall austin
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 22.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove austin
Remove austin Configurations and Data
To remove austin
configuration and data from Ubuntu 22.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge austin
Remove austin configuration, data, and all of its dependencies

configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge austin
