In this tutorial we learn how to install autodep8
on Ubuntu 22.04.
What is autodep8
autodep8 is:
autodep8 will detect well-known types of packages and generate
DEP-8-compliant test control files for them. It can be used by DEP-8
implementations to support implicit test control files.
Currently supported packages types:
- Ruby packages using gem2deb/gem2deb-test-runner
- Perl packages
- Python packages
- NodeJS packages
- Kernel module packages using DKMS
- R packages
- Emacs Lisp ELPA packages
- Go packages
- Octave-Forge packages
There are three methods to install autodep8
on Ubuntu 22.04. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install autodep8 Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install autodep8
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install autodep8
Install autodep8 Using apt
Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install autodep8
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install autodep8
Install autodep8 Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install autodep8
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install autodep8
How To Uninstall autodep8 on Ubuntu 22.04
To uninstall only the autodep8
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove autodep8
Uninstall autodep8 And Its Dependencies
To uninstall autodep8
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 22.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove autodep8
Remove autodep8 Configurations and Data
To remove autodep8
configuration and data from Ubuntu 22.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge autodep8
Remove autodep8 configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove autodep8
configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge autodep8
