Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install bacula-client
on Kali Linux.
What is bacula-client
bacula-client is:
Bacula is a set of programs to manage backup, recovery and verification of
data across a network of computers of different kinds.
The Bacula Director service supervises all the backup, restore, verify and
archive operations. It can run as a daemon or as a foreground service which
administrators can use to schedule backups and recover files.
The package is a metapackage for client installations (file daemon and
console only).
There are three methods to install bacula-client
on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install bacula-client Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install bacula-client
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install bacula-client
Install bacula-client Using apt
Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install bacula-client
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install bacula-client
Install bacula-client Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install bacula-client
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install bacula-client
How To Uninstall bacula-client on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the bacula-client
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove bacula-client
Uninstall bacula-client And Its Dependencies
To uninstall bacula-client
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove bacula-client
Remove bacula-client Configurations and Data
To remove bacula-client
configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge bacula-client
Remove bacula-client configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove bacula-client
configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge bacula-client
