Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install bandage-examples on Ubuntu 22.04.
What is bandage-examples
bandage-examples is:
Bandage is a GUI program that allows users to interact with the assembly
graphs made by de novo assemblers such as Velvet, SPAdes, MEGAHIT and
others.
De novo assembly graphs contain not only assembled contigs but
also the connections between those contigs, which were previously not
easily accessible. Bandage visualises assembly graphs, with connections,
using graph layout algorithms. Nodes in the drawn graph, which represent
contigs, can be automatically labelled with their ID, length or depth.
Users can interact with the graph by moving, labelling and colouring
nodes. Sequence information can also be extracted directly from the
graph viewer. By displaying connections between contigs, Bandage opens
up new possibilities for analysing and improving de novo assemblies that
are not possible by looking at contigs alone.

There are three methods to install bandage-examples on Ubuntu 22.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install bandage-examples Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install bandage-examples using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install bandage-examples
Install bandage-examples Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install bandage-examples using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install bandage-examples
Install bandage-examples Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install bandage-examples using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install bandage-examples
How To Uninstall bandage-examples on Ubuntu 22.04
To uninstall only the bandage-examples package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove bandage-examples
Uninstall bandage-examples And Its Dependencies
To uninstall bandage-examples and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 22.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove bandage-examples
Remove bandage-examples Configurations and Data
To remove bandage-examples configuration and data from Ubuntu 22.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge bandage-examples
Remove bandage-examples configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove bandage-examples configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge bandage-examples
