In this tutorial we learn how to install bazel-bootstrap
on Ubuntu 22.04.
What is bazel-bootstrap
bazel-bootstrap is:
Supported build tasks include running compilers and linkers to produce
executable programs and libraries, and assembling deployable packages
for Android, iOS and other target environments. Bazel is similar to
other tools like Make, Ant, Gradle, Buck, Pants and Maven.
This package contains the bootstrap variant of Bazel and should only be
used on systems that do not have the full version of Bazel built yet.
There are three methods to install bazel-bootstrap
on Ubuntu 22.04. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install bazel-bootstrap Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install bazel-bootstrap
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install bazel-bootstrap
Install bazel-bootstrap Using apt
Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install bazel-bootstrap
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install bazel-bootstrap
Install bazel-bootstrap Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install bazel-bootstrap
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install bazel-bootstrap
How To Uninstall bazel-bootstrap on Ubuntu 22.04
To uninstall only the bazel-bootstrap
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove bazel-bootstrap
Uninstall bazel-bootstrap And Its Dependencies
To uninstall bazel-bootstrap
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 22.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove bazel-bootstrap
Remove bazel-bootstrap Configurations and Data
To remove bazel-bootstrap
configuration and data from Ubuntu 22.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge bazel-bootstrap
Remove bazel-bootstrap configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove bazel-bootstrap
configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge bazel-bootstrap
