In this tutorial we learn how to install bist on Kali Linux.
What is bist
bist is:
Bist stands for BIdimensional STructures (in Italian it sounds like
“beast” in English) and is a chemical drawing tool. It is focused on
organic chemistry but it may be useful also for chemists or teachers.
Bist supports many of the formalisms used to describe molecular
structures like single bonds, double bonds, stereospecific bonds,
charges, resonance arrows, lone pairs, and so on.
It can export both in PostScript and PNG formats.
There are three methods to install bist on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install bist Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install bist using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install bist
Install bist Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install bist using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install bist
Install bist Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install bist using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install bist
How To Uninstall bist on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the bist package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove bist
Uninstall bist And Its Dependencies
To uninstall bist and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove bist
Remove bist Configurations and Data
To remove bist configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge bist
Remove bist configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove bist configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge bist
