This plugin allows Bitlbee to communicate with Mastodon
instances. Mastodon is a free, open-source, decentralized
microblogging network. Bitlbee is an IRC server connecting to various
other text messaging services. You run Bitlbee and connect to it
using an IRC client, then configure Bitlbee to connect to other
services, such as a Mastodon instance where you already have an
account. The benefit is that you can now use any IRC client you want
to connect to Mastodon.
There are three methods to install bitlbee-plugin-mastodon on Ubuntu 22.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install bitlbee-plugin-mastodon Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install bitlbee-plugin-mastodon using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install bitlbee-plugin-mastodon
Install bitlbee-plugin-mastodon Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install bitlbee-plugin-mastodon using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install bitlbee-plugin-mastodon
Install bitlbee-plugin-mastodon Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install bitlbee-plugin-mastodon using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install bitlbee-plugin-mastodon
How To Uninstall bitlbee-plugin-mastodon on Ubuntu 22.04
To uninstall only the bitlbee-plugin-mastodon package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove bitlbee-plugin-mastodon
Uninstall bitlbee-plugin-mastodon And Its Dependencies
To uninstall bitlbee-plugin-mastodon and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 22.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove bitlbee-plugin-mastodon
Remove bitlbee-plugin-mastodon Configurations and Data
To remove bitlbee-plugin-mastodon configuration and data from Ubuntu 22.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge bitlbee-plugin-mastodon
Remove bitlbee-plugin-mastodon configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove bitlbee-plugin-mastodon configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge bitlbee-plugin-mastodon
