What is bogofilter
bogofilter is:
This package implements a fast Bayesian spam filter along the lines suggested
by Paul Graham in his article “A Plan For Spamâ€.
This version substantially improves on Paul’s proposal by doing smarter
lexical analysis. In particular, hostnames and IP addresses are retained
as recognition features rather than broken up. Various kinds of MTA
cruft such as dates and message-IDs are discarded so as not to bloat
the word lists.
There are three methods to install bogofilter on Ubuntu 22.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install bogofilter Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install bogofilter using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install bogofilter
Install bogofilter Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install bogofilter using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install bogofilter
Install bogofilter Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install bogofilter using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install bogofilter
How To Uninstall bogofilter on Ubuntu 22.04
To uninstall only the bogofilter package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove bogofilter
Uninstall bogofilter And Its Dependencies
To uninstall bogofilter and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 22.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove bogofilter
Remove bogofilter Configurations and Data
To remove bogofilter configuration and data from Ubuntu 22.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge bogofilter
Remove bogofilter configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove bogofilter configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge bogofilter
