
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install bolt-tests on Kali Linux.
What is bolt-tests
bolt-tests is:
Thunderbolt 3 features different security modes that require
devices to be authorized before they can be used. The D-Bus API can be
used to list devices, enroll them (authorize and store them in the
local database) and forget them again (remove previously enrolled
devices). It also emits signals if new devices are connected (or
removed). During enrollment devices can be set to be automatically
authorized as soon as they are connected. A command line tool, called
boltctl, can be used to control the daemon and perform all the above
mentioned tasks.
This package includes tests to be used on the installed system.
There are three methods to install bolt-tests on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install bolt-tests Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install bolt-tests using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install bolt-tests
Install bolt-tests Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install bolt-tests using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install bolt-tests
Install bolt-tests Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install bolt-tests using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install bolt-tests
How To Uninstall bolt-tests on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the bolt-tests package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove bolt-tests
Uninstall bolt-tests And Its Dependencies
To uninstall bolt-tests and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove bolt-tests
Remove bolt-tests Configurations and Data
To remove bolt-tests configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge bolt-tests
Remove bolt-tests configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove bolt-tests configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge bolt-tests
