In this tutorial we learn how to install bridge-utils on CentOS 8.

What is bridge-utils

This package contains utilities for configuring the linux ethernet bridge. The linux ethernet bridge can be used for connecting multiple ethernet devices together. The connecting is fully transparent connected to one ethernet device see hosts connected to the other ethernet devices directly. Install bridge-utils if you want to use the linux ethernet bridge.

We can use yum or dnf to install bridge-utils on CentOS 8. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install bridge-utils.

Install bridge-utils on CentOS 8 Using dnf

Update yum database with dnf using the following command.

sudo dnf makecache --refresh

The output should look something like this:

After updating yum database, We can install bridge-utils using dnf by running the following command:

sudo dnf -y install bridge-utils

How To Uninstall bridge-utils on CentOS 8

To uninstall only the bridge-utils package we can use the following command:

sudo dnf remove bridge-utils
