In this tutorial we learn how to install bwm-ng on CentOS 8.

What is bwm-ng

A small and simple console-based live network and disk io bandwidth monitor. Features – Supports /proc/net/dev, netstat, getifaddr, sysctl, kstat, /proc/diskstats /proc/partitions, IOKit, devstat and libstatgrab – Unlimited number of interfaces/devices supported – Interfaces/devices are added or removed dynamically from list – White-/blacklist of interfaces/devices – Output of KB/s, Kb/s, packets, errors, average, max and total sum – Output in curses, plain console, CSV or HTML – Configfile

We can use yum or dnf to install bwm-ng on CentOS 8. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install bwm-ng.

Install bwm-ng on CentOS 8 Using dnf

Update yum database with dnf using the following command.

sudo dnf makecache --refresh

The output should look something like this:

After updating yum database, We can install bwm-ng using dnf by running the following command:

sudo dnf -y install bwm-ng

Install bwm-ng on CentOS 8 Using yum

Update yum database with yum using the following command.

After updating yum database, We can install bwm-ng using yum by running the following command:

sudo yum -y install bwm-ng

How To Uninstall bwm-ng on CentOS 8

To uninstall only the bwm-ng package we can use the following command:

sudo dnf remove bwm-ng
