Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install calculix-cgx-examples on Ubuntu 22.04.
What is calculix-cgx-examples
calculix-cgx-examples is:
CalculiX GraphiX (cgx) is a 3-dimensional pre- and post-processor for
finite elemnts. CalculiX CrunchiX Finite Element Models can be build,
calculated and post-processed. The pre- and post-processor is an
interactive 3D-tool using the openGL API.
In addition to the Calculix CrunchiX results files (frd) results from
OpenFoam, Duns (2D and 3D), Isaac (2D and 3D) and Nastran (f06) can
be read. For preprocessing Netgen nativ format, STEP and STL can be
imported.
This package contains the examples.
There are three methods to install calculix-cgx-examples on Ubuntu 22.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install calculix-cgx-examples Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install calculix-cgx-examples using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install calculix-cgx-examples
Install calculix-cgx-examples Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install calculix-cgx-examples using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install calculix-cgx-examples
Install calculix-cgx-examples Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install calculix-cgx-examples using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install calculix-cgx-examples
How To Uninstall calculix-cgx-examples on Ubuntu 22.04
To uninstall only the calculix-cgx-examples package we can use the following command:

We can use the following command to remove calculix-cgx-examples configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge calculix-cgx-examples
