In this tutorial we learn how to install certwatch-mod_ssl
on CentOS 8.
What is certwatch-mod_ssl
The certwatch-mod_ssl package contains a cron script which runs a daily check for any expired or soon-to-expire certificates listed in the mod_ssl configuration.
We can use yum
or dnf
to install certwatch-mod_ssl
on CentOS 8. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install certwatch-mod_ssl.
Install certwatch-mod_ssl on CentOS 8 Using dnf
Update yum database with dnf
using the following command.
sudo dnf makecache --refresh
The output should look something like this:

After updating yum database, We can install certwatch-mod_ssl
using dnf
by running the following command:
sudo dnf -y install certwatch-mod_ssl
Install certwatch-mod_ssl on CentOS 8 Using yum

How To Uninstall certwatch-mod_ssl on CentOS 8
To uninstall only the certwatch-mod_ssl
package we can use the following command:
sudo dnf remove certwatch-mod_ssl

/etc/cron.daily/certwatch
/etc/sysconfig/certwatch
/usr/share/man/man5/certwatch.cron.5.gz
