Comprez, aka ‘z’, is a simple, safe and convenient front-end for the
compress(1), uncompress(1), gzip(1), bzip2(1), tar(1), zip(1) and
unzip(1) utilities for compressing and uncompressing files and
directories.
The basic idea is that you can just run “comprez SOMETHING” where
SOMETHING is any file, directory, compressed file or compressed
archive, and program will do the right thing in a standard way.
Simple for novices and convenient for experts.
There are three methods to install comprez on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install comprez Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install comprez using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install comprez
Install comprez Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install comprez using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install comprez
Install comprez Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install comprez using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install comprez
How To Uninstall comprez on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the comprez package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove comprez
Uninstall comprez And Its Dependencies
To uninstall comprez and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove comprez
Remove comprez Configurations and Data
To remove comprez configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge comprez
