What is connman-vpn
connman-vpn is:
The Linux Connection Manager project provides a daemon for managing
Internet connections within embedded devices running the Linux
operating system. The Connection Manager is designed to be slim and to
use as few resources as possible. It is fully modular system that
can be extended through plug-ins. The plug-in approach allows for
easy adaption and modification for various use cases.
ConnMan provies IPv4 and IPv6 connectivity via:
- ethernet
- WiFi, using wpasupplicant
- Cellular, using oFono
- Bluetooth, using bluez
ConnMan implements DNS resolving and caching, DHCP clients for both IPv4 and
IPv6, link-local IPv4 address handling and tethering (IP connection sharing)
to clients via USB, ethernet, WiFi, cellular and Bluetooth.
This package contains the connman VPN daemon. ConnMan VPN daemon manages
VPNs on behalf of connmand and start and stops various VPN client
applications. The VPN daemon can also be run standalone without connmand.
There are three methods to install connman-vpn on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install connman-vpn Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install connman-vpn using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install connman-vpn
Install connman-vpn Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install connman-vpn using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install connman-vpn
Install connman-vpn Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install connman-vpn using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install connman-vpn
How To Uninstall connman-vpn on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the connman-vpn package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove connman-vpn
Uninstall connman-vpn And Its Dependencies
To uninstall connman-vpn and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove connman-vpn
Remove connman-vpn Configurations and Data
To remove connman-vpn configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge connman-vpn
Remove connman-vpn configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove connman-vpn configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge connman-vpn
