Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install cutadapt on Kali Linux.
What is cutadapt
cutadapt is:
Cutadapt helps with biological sequence clean tasks by finding the adapter
or primer sequences in an error-tolerant way.
It can also modify and filter reads in various ways.
Adapter sequences can contain IUPAC wildcard characters.
Also, paired-end reads and even colorspace data is supported.
If you want, you can also just demultiplex your input data, without removing
adapter sequences at all.
This package contains the user interface.
There are three methods to install cutadapt on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install cutadapt Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get updateAfter updating apt database, We can install cutadapt using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install cutadaptInstall cutadapt Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install cutadapt using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install cutadaptInstall cutadapt Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude updateAfter updating apt database, We can install cutadapt using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install cutadapt
How To Uninstall cutadapt on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the cutadapt package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove cutadapt
Uninstall cutadapt And Its Dependencies
To uninstall cutadapt and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove cutadapt
Remove cutadapt Configurations and Data
To remove cutadapt configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge cutadapt
Remove cutadapt configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove cutadapt configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge cutadapt
