What is daemonlogger
daemonlogger is:
DaemonLogger is a simple packet logger and soft tap daemon that is
incredibly useful for network security analysts.
It is capable of operating in two modes: sniffing packets and
logging them directly to disk (files are automatically rolled over
after a set size), or in a “soft-tap” mode where it mirrors packets
on another interface.
Daemonlogger can be run either in the foreground or in the background
as a daemon.
There are three methods to install daemonlogger on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install daemonlogger Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get updateAfter updating apt database, We can install daemonlogger using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install daemonloggerInstall daemonlogger Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install daemonlogger using apt by running the following command:

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude -y install daemonlogger
How To Uninstall daemonlogger on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the daemonlogger package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove daemonlogger
Uninstall daemonlogger And Its Dependencies
To uninstall daemonlogger and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove daemonlogger
Remove daemonlogger Configurations and Data
To remove daemonlogger configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge daemonlogger
