What is datapacker
datapacker is:
datapacker is a tool to group files by size. It is
designed to group files such that they fill fixed-size containers
(called “bins”) using the minimum number of containers. This is
useful, for instance, if you want to archive a number of files to CD
or DVD, and want to organize them such that you use the minimum
possible number of CDs or DVDs.
In many cases, datapacker executes almost instantaneously. Of
particular note, the hardlink action can be used
to effectively copy data into bins without having to actually copy
the data at all.
datapacker is a tool in the traditional Unix style; it can be used in
pipes and call other tools.
There are three methods to install datapacker on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install datapacker Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install datapacker using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install datapacker
Install datapacker Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install datapacker using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install datapacker
Install datapacker Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install datapacker using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install datapacker
How To Uninstall datapacker on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the datapacker package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove datapacker
Uninstall datapacker And Its Dependencies
To uninstall datapacker and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove datapacker
Remove datapacker Configurations and Data
To remove datapacker configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge datapacker
Remove datapacker configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove datapacker configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge datapacker
