
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install dbab on Kali Linux.
What is dbab
dbab is:
Block advertising sites at the DNS level. dbab is feather weight,
both in terms of package size and CPU usage, because no pattern matching or
string substitution is involved. Thus it is super efficient and extremely
fast. All ads are be replaced by a 1×1 pixel gif image served locally by
the tiny pixelserv server. The ad-block list can be periodically downloaded
from pgl.yoyo.org, and can be tweaked locally. Speed up mobile device
browsing without installing any apps to them.
There are three methods to install dbab on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install dbab Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install dbab using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install dbab
Install dbab Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install dbab using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install dbab
Install dbab Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install dbab using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install dbab
How To Uninstall dbab on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the dbab package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove dbab
Uninstall dbab And Its Dependencies
To uninstall dbab and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove dbab
Remove dbab Configurations and Data
To remove dbab configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge dbab
Remove dbab configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove dbab configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge dbab
