In this tutorial we learn how to install dbd on Kali Linux.
What is dbd
dbd is:
dbd is a Netcat-clone, designed to be portable and offer
strong encryption. It runs on Unix-like operating systems
and on Microsoft Win32. dbd features AES-CBC-128 +
HMAC-SHA1 encryption (by Christophe Devine), program
execution (-e option), choosing source port, continuous
reconnection with delay, and some other nice features.
dbd supports TCP/IP communication only. Source code and
binaries are distributed under the GNU General Public
License.
There are three methods to install dbd on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install dbd Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install dbd using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install dbd
Install dbd Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install dbd using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install dbd
Install dbd Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install dbd using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install dbd
How To Uninstall dbd on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the dbd package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove dbd
Uninstall dbd And Its Dependencies
To uninstall dbd and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove dbd
Remove dbd Configurations and Data
To remove dbd configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge dbd
Remove dbd configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove dbd configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge dbd
