Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install de4dot
on Kali Linux.
What is de4dot
de4dot is:
de4dot is a .NET deobfuscator and unpacker. It will try its best to
restore a packed and obfuscated assembly to almost the original
assembly.
Most of the obfuscation can be completely restored (eg. string
encryption), but symbol renaming is impossible to restore since the
original names aren’t (usually) part of the obfuscated assembly.
There are three methods to install de4dot
on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install de4dot Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install de4dot
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install de4dot
Install de4dot Using apt
Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install de4dot
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install de4dot
Install de4dot Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install de4dot
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install de4dot
How To Uninstall de4dot on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the de4dot
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove de4dot
Uninstall de4dot And Its Dependencies
To uninstall de4dot
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove de4dot
Remove de4dot Configurations and Data
To remove de4dot
configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge de4dot
Remove de4dot configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove de4dot
configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge de4dot
