Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install debug-me-server on Kali Linux.
What is debug-me-server
debug-me-server is:
Debugging a problem over email/irc/BTS is slow, tedious, and
hard. The developer needs to see the your problem to understand
it. Debug-me aims to make debugging fast, fun, and easy, by letting
the developer access your computer remotely, so they can immediately
see and interact with the problem. Making your problem their problem
gets it fixed fast.
A debug-me session is logged and signed with the developer’s GnuPG
key, producing a chain of evidence of what they saw and what they
did. So the developer’s good reputation is leveraged to make debug-me
secure. If you trust a developer to ship software to your computer,
you can trust them to debug-me.
This package sets up a debug-me server. If you don’t want to do
that, install only the debug-me package.
There are three methods to install debug-me-server on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install debug-me-server Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get updateAfter updating apt database, We can install debug-me-server using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install debug-me-serverInstall debug-me-server Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install debug-me-server using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install debug-me-serverInstall debug-me-server Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude updateAfter updating apt database, We can install debug-me-server using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install debug-me-server
How To Uninstall debug-me-server on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the debug-me-server package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove debug-me-server
Uninstall debug-me-server And Its Dependencies
To uninstall debug-me-server and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove debug-me-server
Remove debug-me-server Configurations and Data
To remove debug-me-server configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge debug-me-server
Remove debug-me-server configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove debug-me-server configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge debug-me-server
