What is diamond-aligner
diamond-aligner is:
DIAMOND is a sequence aligner for protein and translated DNA searches
and functions as a drop-in replacement for the NCBI BLAST software
tools. It is suitable for protein-protein search as well as DNA-protein
search on short reads and longer sequences including contigs and
assemblies, providing a speedup of BLAST ranging up to x20,000.
There are three methods to install diamond-aligner on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install diamond-aligner Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install diamond-aligner using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install diamond-aligner
Install diamond-aligner Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install diamond-aligner using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install diamond-aligner
Install diamond-aligner Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install diamond-aligner using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install diamond-aligner
How To Uninstall diamond-aligner on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the diamond-aligner package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove diamond-aligner
Uninstall diamond-aligner And Its Dependencies
To uninstall diamond-aligner and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove diamond-aligner
Remove diamond-aligner Configurations and Data
To remove diamond-aligner configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge diamond-aligner
Remove diamond-aligner configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove diamond-aligner configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge diamond-aligner
