Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install diffpdf on Kali Linux.
What is diffpdf
diffpdf is:
DiffPDF is used to compare two PDF files.
By default the comparison is of the text on each pair of pages, but
comparing the appearance of pages is also supported (for example, if
a diagram is changed or a paragraph reformatted). It is also possible
to compare particular pages or page ranges. For example, if there are
two versions of a PDF file, one with pages 1-12 and the other with
pages 1-13 because of an extra page having been added as page 4, they
can be compared by specifying two page ranges, 1-12 for the first and 1-3,
5-13 for the second. This will make DiffPDF compare pages in the pairs
(1, 1), (2, 2), (3, 3), (4, 5), (5, 6), and so on, to (12, 13).
There are three methods to install diffpdf on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install diffpdf Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get updateAfter updating apt database, We can install diffpdf using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install diffpdfInstall diffpdf Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install diffpdf using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install diffpdfInstall diffpdf Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install diffpdf using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install diffpdf
How To Uninstall diffpdf on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the diffpdf package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove diffpdf
Uninstall diffpdf And Its Dependencies
To uninstall diffpdf and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove diffpdf
Remove diffpdf Configurations and Data
To remove diffpdf configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge diffpdf
Remove diffpdf configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove diffpdf configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge diffpdf
