Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install dma
on Kali Linux.
What is dma
dma is:
The DragonFly Mail Agent is a small Mail Transport Agent (MTA),
designed for home and office use. It accepts mails from local Mail
User Agents (MUA) and delivers them either to local mailboxes or
remote SMTP servers. Remote delivery includes support for features
such as TLS/SSL and SMTP authentication.
dma is not intended as a replacement for full-featured MTAs like
Sendmail, Postfix, or Exim. Consequently, dma does not listen on
port 25 for incoming connections.
There are three methods to install dma
on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install dma Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install dma
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install dma
Install dma Using apt
Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install dma
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install dma
Install dma Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install dma
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install dma
How To Uninstall dma on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the dma
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove dma
Uninstall dma And Its Dependencies
To uninstall dma
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove dma
Remove dma Configurations and Data
To remove dma
configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge dma
Remove dma configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove dma
configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge dma
