Introduction

on Ubuntu 22.04.
What is elpa-pyim
elpa-pyim is:
pyim is a Chinese input method in the Emacs environment. The code of
pyim is derived from Emacs-eim, which development stopped after 2008.
Although the external input method is powerful, it can’t cooperate
with Emacs tacitly, which greatly damages the feeling of Emacs.
Features:

pyim supports Quanpin, Shuangpin, Wubi and Cangjie, among which
Quanpin is the best; -
pyim optimizes the input method by adding thesaurus;

pyim uses the text lexicon format, which is convenient for
processing; -
pyim can be used as the front end for rime.
There are three methods to install elpa-pyim
on Ubuntu 22.04. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install elpa-pyim Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install elpa-pyim
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install elpa-pyim
Install elpa-pyim Using apt
Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install elpa-pyim
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install elpa-pyim
Install elpa-pyim Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install elpa-pyim
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install elpa-pyim
How To Uninstall elpa-pyim on Ubuntu 22.04
To uninstall only the elpa-pyim
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove elpa-pyim
Uninstall elpa-pyim And Its Dependencies
To uninstall elpa-pyim
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 22.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove elpa-pyim
Remove elpa-pyim Configurations and Data
To remove elpa-pyim
configuration and data from Ubuntu 22.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge elpa-pyim
Remove elpa-pyim configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove elpa-pyim
configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge elpa-pyim
