What is exim4-daemon-light
exim4-daemon-light is:
Exim (v4) is a mail transport agent. This package contains the exim4
daemon with only basic features enabled. It works well with the
standard setups that are provided by Debian and includes support for
TLS encryption and the dlopen patch to allow dynamic loading of a
local_scan function.
The Debian exim4 packages have their own web page,
http://wiki.debian.org/PkgExim4. There is also a Debian-specific
FAQ list. Information about the way the Debian packages are
configured can be found in
/usr/share/doc/exim4-base/README.Debian.gz, which additionally contains
information about the way the Debian binary packages are built. The

configuration process in a standard setup, invoke dpkg-reconfigure
exim4-config. There is a Debian-centered mailing list,

questions there, and only write to the upstream exim-users mailing
list if you are sure that your question is not Debian-specific. You

There are three methods to install exim4-daemon-light
on Ubuntu 22.04. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install exim4-daemon-light Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install exim4-daemon-light
using apt-get

sudo apt-get -y install exim4-daemon-light

Update apt database with apt

After updating apt database, We can install exim4-daemon-light
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install exim4-daemon-light
Install exim4-daemon-light Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install exim4-daemon-light
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install exim4-daemon-light
How To Uninstall exim4-daemon-light on Ubuntu 22.04
To uninstall only the exim4-daemon-light
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove exim4-daemon-light
Uninstall exim4-daemon-light And Its Dependencies
To uninstall exim4-daemon-light
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 22.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove exim4-daemon-light
Remove exim4-daemon-light Configurations and Data
To remove exim4-daemon-light
configuration and data from Ubuntu 22.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge exim4-daemon-light
Remove exim4-daemon-light configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove exim4-daemon-light
configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge exim4-daemon-light
