What is fcitx5-modules
fcitx5-modules is:
Fcitx5 is the next generation of fcitx input method framework. It
provides pleasant and modern input experience with intuitive graphical
configuration tools. The framework is highly extensible with support
for GTK+ and Qt toolkits, D-Bus interfaces, a large variety of desktop
environments and a developer-friendly API.
Some of its new features include support of both Wayland and Xorg
and the ability to mimic IBus Input Method Framework in order to
provide better compatibility across different Linux distributions
and desktop environments.
This package provides core modules for fcitx5 and depends on all
input modules.
There are three methods to install fcitx5-modules on Ubuntu 22.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install fcitx5-modules Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install fcitx5-modules using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install fcitx5-modules
Install fcitx5-modules Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install fcitx5-modules using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install fcitx5-modules
Install fcitx5-modules Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install fcitx5-modules using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install fcitx5-modules
How To Uninstall fcitx5-modules on Ubuntu 22.04
To uninstall only the fcitx5-modules package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove fcitx5-modules
Uninstall fcitx5-modules And Its Dependencies
To uninstall fcitx5-modules and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 22.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove fcitx5-modules
Remove fcitx5-modules Configurations and Data
To remove fcitx5-modules configuration and data from Ubuntu 22.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge fcitx5-modules
Remove fcitx5-modules configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove fcitx5-modules configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge fcitx5-modules
