Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install festival-ca
on Ubuntu 22.04.
What is festival-ca
festival-ca is:
This package provides the modules required to synthesize speech in Catalan
language using the Festival text-to-speech synthesizer. For a given text,
it uses the festival synthesizer to generate speech in Catalan.
This package does not include any voice as it is a common package
for all Catalan voices.
This package was developed at Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya.
There are three methods to install festival-ca
on Ubuntu 22.04. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install festival-ca Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install festival-ca
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install festival-ca
Install festival-ca Using apt
Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install festival-ca
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install festival-ca
Install festival-ca Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install festival-ca
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install festival-ca
How To Uninstall festival-ca on Ubuntu 22.04
To uninstall only the festival-ca
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove festival-ca
Uninstall festival-ca And Its Dependencies
To uninstall festival-ca
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 22.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove festival-ca
Remove festival-ca Configurations and Data
To remove festival-ca
configuration and data from Ubuntu 22.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge festival-ca
Remove festival-ca configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove festival-ca
configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge festival-ca
