Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install fonts-roboto-hinted on Ubuntu 22.04.
What is fonts-roboto-hinted
fonts-roboto-hinted is:
Roboto is Google’s signature family of fonts, the default font in
Android and ChromeOS and the recommended font for Google’s visual
language, Material Design.
Roboto supports all Latin, Cyrillic, and Greek characters in Unicode
7.0 as well as currency symbol for the Georgian lari, to be published
in Unicode 8.0.
This package previously contained Roboto font families with hinting.
It is now dummy and can be safely removed.
There are three methods to install fonts-roboto-hinted on Ubuntu 22.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install fonts-roboto-hinted Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install fonts-roboto-hinted using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install fonts-roboto-hinted
Install fonts-roboto-hinted Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install fonts-roboto-hinted using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install fonts-roboto-hinted
Install fonts-roboto-hinted Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install fonts-roboto-hinted using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install fonts-roboto-hinted
How To Uninstall fonts-roboto-hinted on Ubuntu 22.04
To uninstall only the fonts-roboto-hinted package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove fonts-roboto-hinted
Uninstall fonts-roboto-hinted And Its Dependencies
To uninstall fonts-roboto-hinted and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 22.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove fonts-roboto-hinted
Remove fonts-roboto-hinted Configurations and Data
To remove fonts-roboto-hinted configuration and data from Ubuntu 22.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge fonts-roboto-hinted
Remove fonts-roboto-hinted configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove fonts-roboto-hinted configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge fonts-roboto-hinted
