Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install gstreamer1.0-pipewire
on Ubuntu 22.04.
What is gstreamer1.0-pipewire
gstreamer1.0-pipewire is:
PipeWire is a server and user space API to deal with multimedia
pipelines. This includes:
- Making available sources of video (such as from a capture devices or
application provided streams) and multiplexing this with clients. - Accessing sources of video for consumption.
- Generating graphs for audio and video processing.
This package contains a plugin to make devices managed by the PipeWire
server available as GStreamer sources and sinks.
There are three methods to install gstreamer1.0-pipewire
on Ubuntu 22.04. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install gstreamer1.0-pipewire Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install gstreamer1.0-pipewire
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install gstreamer1.0-pipewire
Install gstreamer1.0-pipewire Using apt
Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install gstreamer1.0-pipewire
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install gstreamer1.0-pipewire
Install gstreamer1.0-pipewire Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install gstreamer1.0-pipewire
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install gstreamer1.0-pipewire
How To Uninstall gstreamer1.0-pipewire on Ubuntu 22.04
To uninstall only the gstreamer1.0-pipewire
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove gstreamer1.0-pipewire
Uninstall gstreamer1.0-pipewire And Its Dependencies
To uninstall gstreamer1.0-pipewire
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 22.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove gstreamer1.0-pipewire
Remove gstreamer1.0-pipewire Configurations and Data
To remove gstreamer1.0-pipewire
configuration and data from Ubuntu 22.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge gstreamer1.0-pipewire
Remove gstreamer1.0-pipewire configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove gstreamer1.0-pipewire
configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge gstreamer1.0-pipewire
