on Ubuntu 22.04.
What is heif-gdk-pixbuf
heif-gdk-pixbuf is:
libheif is an ISO/IEC 23008-12:2017 HEIF file format decoder. HEIF is a new
image file format employing HEVC (h.265) image coding for the best compression
ratios currently possible.
A gdk-pixbuf loader module for applications such as “gpicview†and “pcmanfmâ€
is provided by this package.
There are three methods to install heif-gdk-pixbuf
on Ubuntu 22.04. We can use apt-get

After updating apt database, We can install heif-gdk-pixbuf
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install heif-gdk-pixbuf
Install heif-gdk-pixbuf Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install heif-gdk-pixbuf
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install heif-gdk-pixbuf
How To Uninstall heif-gdk-pixbuf on Ubuntu 22.04
To uninstall only the heif-gdk-pixbuf
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove heif-gdk-pixbuf
Uninstall heif-gdk-pixbuf And Its Dependencies
To uninstall heif-gdk-pixbuf
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 22.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove heif-gdk-pixbuf
Remove heif-gdk-pixbuf Configurations and Data
To remove heif-gdk-pixbuf
configuration and data from Ubuntu 22.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge heif-gdk-pixbuf
Remove heif-gdk-pixbuf configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove heif-gdk-pixbuf
configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge heif-gdk-pixbuf
