Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install latex-cjk-common on Ubuntu 22.04.
What is latex-cjk-common
latex-cjk-common is:
CJK is a macro package for LaTeX to enable typesetting in Chinese,
Japanese, Korean and Thai, and it supports Vietnamese through the
“vntex†macro. And you can still use Russian, Greek and other
languages in the same document.
It supports various CJK encodings, like UTF-8, Big5, GB, JIS, KS,
CNS (through CEF) and Emacs MULE.
This package will install the common files, as well as a few
GNU/Emacs Lisp files, and it provides support for furigana
(“ruby textâ€) and PinYin, either with or without tone marks.
There are three methods to install latex-cjk-common on Ubuntu 22.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install latex-cjk-common Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install latex-cjk-common using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install latex-cjk-common
Install latex-cjk-common Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install latex-cjk-common using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install latex-cjk-common
Install latex-cjk-common Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install latex-cjk-common using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install latex-cjk-common
How To Uninstall latex-cjk-common on Ubuntu 22.04
To uninstall only the latex-cjk-common package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove latex-cjk-common
Uninstall latex-cjk-common And Its Dependencies
To uninstall latex-cjk-common and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 22.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove latex-cjk-common
Remove latex-cjk-common Configurations and Data
To remove latex-cjk-common configuration and data from Ubuntu 22.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge latex-cjk-common
Remove latex-cjk-common configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove latex-cjk-common configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge latex-cjk-common
