Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install libfolia14 on Ubuntu 22.04.
What is libfolia14
libfolia14 is:
FoLiA is an XML-based format for Linguistic Annotation suitable for
representing written language resources such as corpora.
Its goal is to unify a variety of linguistic annotations in one single rich
format, without committing to any particular standard annotation set.
Instead, it seeks to accommodate any desired system or tagset, and so offer
maximum flexibility. This makes FoLiA language independent.

libfolia is a product of the Centre of Language and Speech Technology, Radboud
University Nijmegen (The Netherlands), it was previously developed at the ILK
Research Group, Tilburg University. Work on libfolia is funded by NWO, the
Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research.
This package provides the runtime files required to run programs that use
libfolia and implements FoLiA v2.2.1.
There are three methods to install libfolia14 on Ubuntu 22.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install libfolia14 Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install libfolia14 using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install libfolia14
Install libfolia14 Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install libfolia14 using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install libfolia14
Install libfolia14 Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install libfolia14 using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install libfolia14
How To Uninstall libfolia14 on Ubuntu 22.04
To uninstall only the libfolia14 package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove libfolia14
Uninstall libfolia14 And Its Dependencies
To uninstall libfolia14 and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 22.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove libfolia14
Remove libfolia14 Configurations and Data
To remove libfolia14 configuration and data from Ubuntu 22.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge libfolia14
Remove libfolia14 configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove libfolia14 configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge libfolia14
