Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install libfrog2
on Ubuntu 22.04.
What is libfrog2
libfrog2 is:
Memory-Based Learning (MBL) is a machine-learning method applicable to a wide
range of tasks in Natural Language Processing (NLP).
Frog is a modular system integrating a morphosyntactic tagger, lemmatizer,
morphological analyzer, and dependency parser for natural languages. Using
Memory-Based Learning techniques, Frog analyses word tokens in incoming
UTF-8 text files, and assigns a dependency graph to each sentence.
Frog is a product of the Centre of Language and Speech Technology at
Radboud University Nijmegen, it subsumes previous work by the
ILK Research Group (Tilburg University, The Netherlands) and
the CLiPS Research Centre (University of Antwerp, Belgium).
This package provides the runtime files required to run programs that use
Frog.
There are three methods to install libfrog2
on Ubuntu 22.04. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install libfrog2 Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install libfrog2
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install libfrog2
Install libfrog2 Using apt
Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install libfrog2
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install libfrog2
Install libfrog2 Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install libfrog2
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install libfrog2
How To Uninstall libfrog2 on Ubuntu 22.04
To uninstall only the libfrog2
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove libfrog2
Uninstall libfrog2 And Its Dependencies
To uninstall libfrog2
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 22.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove libfrog2
Remove libfrog2 Configurations and Data
To remove libfrog2
configuration and data from Ubuntu 22.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge libfrog2
Remove libfrog2 configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove libfrog2
configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge libfrog2
