What is libfuntools-dev
libfuntools-dev is:
Funtools, is a “minimal buy-in†FITS library and utility package developed at
the High Energy Astrophysics Division of SAO. The Funtools library
provides simplified access to a wide array of file types: standard
astronomical FITS images and binary tables, raw arrays and binary event
lists, and even tables of ASCII column data. A sophisticated region filtering
library (compatible with ds9) filters images and tables using boolean
operations between geometric shapes, support world coordinates, etc. Funtools
also supports advanced capabilities such as optimized data searching using
index files.
This package contains the development files.
There are three methods to install libfuntools-dev on Ubuntu 22.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install libfuntools-dev Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install libfuntools-dev using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install libfuntools-dev
Install libfuntools-dev Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install libfuntools-dev using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install libfuntools-dev
Install libfuntools-dev Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install libfuntools-dev using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install libfuntools-dev
How To Uninstall libfuntools-dev on Ubuntu 22.04
To uninstall only the libfuntools-dev package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove libfuntools-dev
Uninstall libfuntools-dev And Its Dependencies
To uninstall libfuntools-dev and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 22.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove libfuntools-dev
Remove libfuntools-dev Configurations and Data
To remove libfuntools-dev configuration and data from Ubuntu 22.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge libfuntools-dev
Remove libfuntools-dev configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove libfuntools-dev configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge libfuntools-dev
