Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install libgatbcore-dev on Ubuntu 22.04.
What is libgatbcore-dev
libgatbcore-dev is:
The GATB-CORE project provides a set of highly efficient
algorithms to analyse NGS data sets. These methods enable
the analysis of data sets of any size on multi-core desktop
computers, including very huge amount of reads data coming
from any kind of organisms such as bacteria, plants,
animals and even complex samples (e.g. metagenomes).

By itself GATB-CORE is not an NGS data analysis tool.
However, it can be used to create such tools. There already
exist a set of ready-to-use tools relying on GATB-CORE
library: see https://gatb.inria.fr/software/
This package contains the static library and the header files
of the gatb-core library.
There are three methods to install libgatbcore-dev on Ubuntu 22.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install libgatbcore-dev Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install libgatbcore-dev using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install libgatbcore-dev
Install libgatbcore-dev Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install libgatbcore-dev using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install libgatbcore-dev
Install libgatbcore-dev Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install libgatbcore-dev using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install libgatbcore-dev
How To Uninstall libgatbcore-dev on Ubuntu 22.04
To uninstall only the libgatbcore-dev package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove libgatbcore-dev
Uninstall libgatbcore-dev And Its Dependencies
To uninstall libgatbcore-dev and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 22.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove libgatbcore-dev
Remove libgatbcore-dev Configurations and Data
To remove libgatbcore-dev configuration and data from Ubuntu 22.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge libgatbcore-dev
Remove libgatbcore-dev configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove libgatbcore-dev configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge libgatbcore-dev
