What is libgeners-dev
libgeners-dev is:
The Generic Serialization library is designed to address the problem of C++
object persistence in situations where the most typical data access pattern is
“write once read many†(WORM). “Geners†is a set of tools and conventions
which allows its users to develop C++ classes that can be converted to and
from a storable stream of bytes in a well-organized and type-safe manner.
Serialization of STL containers is supported, including the ones added in the
C++11 standard. Independent versioning of each class definition is allowed.
Among others, compared to the boost serialization package, Geners archives
provide random access to stored objects and can be used to create and
serialize very large archive-based objects. Yet, only binary archives are
implemented, and implementing non-intrusive serialization is less transparent.
This package contains the headers and the static library.
There are three methods to install libgeners-dev on Ubuntu 22.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install libgeners-dev Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install libgeners-dev using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install libgeners-dev

Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install libgeners-dev using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install libgeners-dev
Install libgeners-dev Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install libgeners-dev using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install libgeners-dev
How To Uninstall libgeners-dev on Ubuntu 22.04
To uninstall only the libgeners-dev package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove libgeners-dev
Uninstall libgeners-dev And Its Dependencies
To uninstall libgeners-dev and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 22.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove libgeners-dev
Remove libgeners-dev Configurations and Data
To remove libgeners-dev configuration and data from Ubuntu 22.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge libgeners-dev
Remove libgeners-dev configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove libgeners-dev configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge libgeners-dev
