What is libgxps-utils
libgxps-utils is:
OpenXPS or XPS stands for XML Paper Specification. It is based on XML and it’s
a new electronic paper format originally developed by Microsoft and it serves
as a PDF alternative. XPS files are usually created using “Microsoft XPS
Document Writer” in Windows environments. It is now standardized as an open
standard document format.
Quoting Wikipedia:
An XPS file is in fact a Unicoded ZIP archive using the Open Packaging
Conventions, containing the files which make up the document. These include an
XML markup file for each page, text, embedded fonts, raster images, 2D vector
graphics, as well as the digital rights management information. The contents
of an XPS file can be examined simply by opening it in an application which
supports ZIP files.
The OpenXPS document format specification supports features such as color
gradients, transparencies, CMYK color spaces, printer calibration,
multiple-ink systems and print schemas.
This package contains the binary utilities:
xpstopng, xpstopdf, xpstosvg, xpstojpeg and xpstops
There are three methods to install libgxps-utils
on Ubuntu 18.04. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install libgxps-utils Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install libgxps-utils
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install libgxps-utils
Install libgxps-utils Using apt
Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install libgxps-utils
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install libgxps-utils
Install libgxps-utils Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install libgxps-utils
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install libgxps-utils
How To Uninstall libgxps-utils on Ubuntu 18.04
To uninstall only the libgxps-utils
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove libgxps-utils
Uninstall libgxps-utils And Its Dependencies
To uninstall libgxps-utils
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 18.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove libgxps-utils
Remove libgxps-utils Configurations and Data
To remove libgxps-utils
configuration and data from Ubuntu 18.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge libgxps-utils
Remove libgxps-utils configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove libgxps-utils
configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge libgxps-utils
