Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install postgresql-13-partman on Kali Linux.
What is postgresql-13-partman
postgresql-13-partman is:
pg_partman is a PostgreSQL extension to create and manage both time-based and
serial-based table partition sets. Sub-partitioning is also supported. Child
table & trigger function creation is all managed by the extension itself.
Tables with existing data can also have their data partitioned in easily
managed smaller batches. Optional retention policy can automatically drop
partitions no longer needed. A background worker (BGW) process is included to
automatically run partition maintenance without the need of an external
scheduler (cron, etc) in most cases.
There are three methods to install postgresql-13-partman on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install postgresql-13-partman Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get updateAfter updating apt database, We can install postgresql-13-partman using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install postgresql-13-partman
Install postgresql-13-partman Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install postgresql-13-partman using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install postgresql-13-partmanInstall postgresql-13-partman Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install postgresql-13-partman using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install postgresql-13-partman
How To Uninstall postgresql-13-partman on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the postgresql-13-partman package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove postgresql-13-partman
Uninstall postgresql-13-partman And Its Dependencies
To uninstall postgresql-13-partman and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove postgresql-13-partman
Remove postgresql-13-partman Configurations and Data
To remove postgresql-13-partman configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge postgresql-13-partman
Remove postgresql-13-partman configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove postgresql-13-partman configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge postgresql-13-partman
