Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install proxychains4 on Kali Linux.
What is proxychains4
proxychains4 is:
Proxychains is a UNIX program, that hooks network-related libc functions
in dynamically linked programs via a preloaded DLL (dlsym(), LD_PRELOAD)
and redirects the connections through SOCKS4a/5 or HTTP proxies.
It supports TCP only (no UDP/ICMP etc).
This project, proxychains-ng, is the continuation of the unmaintained
proxychains project (known as proxychains package in Debian).
There are three methods to install proxychains4 on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install proxychains4 Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get updateAfter updating apt database, We can install proxychains4 using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install proxychains4Install proxychains4 Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install proxychains4 using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install proxychains4Install proxychains4 Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude updateAfter updating apt database, We can install proxychains4 using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install proxychains4How To Uninstall proxychains4 on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the proxychains4 package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove proxychains4Uninstall proxychains4 And Its Dependencies
To uninstall proxychains4 and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove proxychains4Remove proxychains4 Configurations and Data
To remove proxychains4 configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge proxychains4Remove proxychains4 configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove proxychains4 configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
