Introduction

What is scantv
scantv is:
XawTV is a set of software for watching and recording television channels and
webcams.
This package provides a utility that can scan a channel set for TV
stations and write the ones found in an xawtv configuration file
(which is also read by some other utilities such as fbtv). It
attempts to extract the station names from inter-frame (VBI) data
as well.
There are three methods to install scantv on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install scantv Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get updateAfter updating apt database, We can install scantv using apt-get by running the following command:

After updating apt database, We can install scantv using apt by running the following command:

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install scantv using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install scantv
How To Uninstall scantv on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the scantv package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove scantv
Uninstall scantv And Its Dependencies
To uninstall scantv and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove scantv
Remove scantv Configurations and Data
To remove scantv configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge scantv
Remove scantv configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove scantv configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge scantv
