What is semanage-utils
semanage-utils is:
This package contains an utility that can be used to migrate from the old
policy store format (HLL, stored in /etc/selinux) to the new one (CLI, stored
in /var/lib/selinux).
Security-enhanced Linux is a patch of the Linux kernel and a
number of utilities with enhanced security functionality designed to
add mandatory access controls to Linux. The Security-enhanced Linux
kernel contains new architectural components originally developed to
improve the security of the Flask operating system. These
architectural components provide general support for the enforcement
of many kinds of mandatory access control policies, including those
based on the concepts of Type Enforcement, Role-based Access
Control, and Multi-level Security.
There are three methods to install semanage-utils on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install semanage-utils Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install semanage-utils using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install semanage-utilsInstall semanage-utils Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install semanage-utils using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install semanage-utils
Install semanage-utils Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude updateAfter updating apt database, We can install semanage-utils using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install semanage-utils
How To Uninstall semanage-utils on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the semanage-utils package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove semanage-utils
Uninstall semanage-utils And Its Dependencies
To uninstall semanage-utils and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove semanage-utils
Remove semanage-utils Configurations and Data
To remove semanage-utils configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge semanage-utils
Remove semanage-utils configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove semanage-utils configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge semanage-utils
