What is sendmail-cf
sendmail-cf is:
Sendmail is an alternative Mail Transport Agent (MTA) for
Debian. It is suitable for handling sophisticated mail
configurations, although this means that its configuration
can also be complex.
This package contains the .m4 (configuration files) for the
sendmail packages.
There are three methods to install sendmail-cf on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install sendmail-cf Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get updateAfter updating apt database, We can install sendmail-cf using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install sendmail-cf
Install sendmail-cf Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install sendmail-cf using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install sendmail-cfInstall sendmail-cf Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install sendmail-cf using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install sendmail-cf
How To Uninstall sendmail-cf on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the sendmail-cf package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove sendmail-cf
Uninstall sendmail-cf And Its Dependencies
To uninstall sendmail-cf and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove sendmail-cf
Remove sendmail-cf Configurations and Data
To remove sendmail-cf configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge sendmail-cf
Remove sendmail-cf configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove sendmail-cf configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge sendmail-cf
