In this tutorial we learn how to install seqkit on Kali Linux.
What is seqkit
seqkit is:
SeqKit describes a cross-platform ultrafast comprehensive toolkit for
FASTA/Q processing. SeqKit provides executable binary files for all
major operating systems, including Windows, Linux, and Mac OS X, and can
be directly used without any dependencies or pre-configurations. SeqKit
demonstrates competitive performance in execution time and memory usage
compared to similar tools. The efficiency and usability of SeqKit enable
researchers to rapidly accomplish common FASTA/Q file manipulations.
There are three methods to install seqkit on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install seqkit Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get updateAfter updating apt database, We can install seqkit using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install seqkit
Install seqkit Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install seqkit using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install seqkitInstall seqkit Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install seqkit using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install seqkit
How To Uninstall seqkit on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the seqkit package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove seqkit
Uninstall seqkit And Its Dependencies
To uninstall seqkit and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove seqkit
Remove seqkit Configurations and Data
To remove seqkit configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge seqkit
Remove seqkit configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove seqkit configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge seqkit
