Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install sjeng on Kali Linux.
What is sjeng
sjeng is:
Sjeng is a chess program that plays normal chess and many variants
like crazyhouse, bughouse, suicide (aka giveaway or anti-chess) and
losers. It can also play variants which have the same rules as
normal chess, but a different starting position. It uses the
XBoard/WinBoard interface by Tim Mann, so it can be used with
xboard or eboard. It is also capable of playing on internet chess
servers.
There are three methods to install sjeng on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install sjeng Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get updateAfter updating apt database, We can install sjeng using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install sjengInstall sjeng Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install sjeng using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install sjengInstall sjeng Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install sjeng using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install sjeng
How To Uninstall sjeng on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the sjeng package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove sjeng
Uninstall sjeng And Its Dependencies
To uninstall sjeng and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove sjeng
Remove sjeng Configurations and Data
To remove sjeng configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge sjeng
Remove sjeng configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove sjeng configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge sjeng
