In this tutorial we learn how to install skalibs-dev on Kali Linux.
What is skalibs-dev
skalibs-dev is:
skalibs is a package centralizing the free software / open source C
development files used for building all software at skarnet.org: it
contains essentially general-purpose libraries. You will need to install
skalibs if you plan to build skarnet.org software. The point is that you
won’t have to download and compile big libraries, and care about
portability issues, every time you need to build a package: do it only
once.
skalibs can also be used as a sound basic start for C development. There
are a lot of general-purpose libraries out there; but if your main goal is
to produce small and secure C code with a focus on system programming,
skalibs might be for you.
This package contains static and header files.
There are three methods to install skalibs-dev on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install skalibs-dev Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get updateAfter updating apt database, We can install skalibs-dev using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install skalibs-devInstall skalibs-dev Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install skalibs-dev using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install skalibs-devInstall skalibs-dev Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install skalibs-dev using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install skalibs-dev
How To Uninstall skalibs-dev on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the skalibs-dev package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove skalibs-dev
Uninstall skalibs-dev And Its Dependencies
To uninstall skalibs-dev and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove skalibs-dev
Remove skalibs-dev Configurations and Data
To remove skalibs-dev configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge skalibs-dev
Remove skalibs-dev configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove skalibs-dev configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge skalibs-dev
