Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install splash
on Kali Linux.
What is splash
splash is:
This (formerly SUPERSPHPLOT) is a visualisation tool for output from
(astrophysical) simulations using the Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics
(SPH) method in one, two and three dimensions. It is written in
Fortran 90 and can utilise the PGPLOT graphics subroutine library to do
the actual plotting. It is based around a command-line menu structure
but utilises the interactive capabilities of PGPLOT to manipulate data
interactively in the plotting window.
There are three methods to install splash
on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install splash Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install splash
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install splash
Install splash Using apt
Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install splash
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install splash
Install splash Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install splash
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install splash
How To Uninstall splash on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the splash
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove splash
Uninstall splash And Its Dependencies
To uninstall splash
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove splash
Remove splash Configurations and Data
To remove splash
configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge splash
Remove splash configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove splash
configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge splash
