Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install sunclock on Kali Linux.
What is sunclock
sunclock is:
sunclock is an X11 application that displays a map of the Earth and
indicates the illuminated portion of the globe by drawing sunlit
areas dark on light, night areas as light on dark. In addition to
providing local time for the default timezone, it also displays GMT
time, legal and solar time of major cities, their latitude and
longitude, and the mutual distances of arbitrary locations on Earth.
Sunclock can display meridians, parallels, tropics and arctic
circles. It has builtin functions that accelerate the speed of time
and show the evolution of seasons.
There are three methods to install sunclock on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install sunclock Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get updateAfter updating apt database, We can install sunclock using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install sunclockInstall sunclock Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install sunclock using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install sunclockInstall sunclock Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install sunclock using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install sunclock
How To Uninstall sunclock on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the sunclock package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove sunclock
Uninstall sunclock And Its Dependencies
To uninstall sunclock and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove sunclock
Remove sunclock Configurations and Data
To remove sunclock configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge sunclock
Remove sunclock configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove sunclock configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge sunclock
